Who Is Dave?

I was born in a sleepy little rural town in Indiana. We had a mini-farm (though they didn't call them that back then), where we raised chickens, ducks, and geese, and harvested hay for our Amish neighbors. My parents, who cared deeply for us three boys, allowed us to explore life and pursue our passions. However, Sunday church was non-negotiable, and we attended every week. I vividly recall going "forward" at a church revival when I was 10. At that moment, I sensed that God had a plan for me, and I needed to embark on this journey with Him. While I loved the music and community during my younger years, in my teens, the world beckoned, and I answered.

Rebellion initially seemed enticing, but soon I found myself trapped. Ten years of wasted living was a challenging experience. In a moment of desperation one night, I got on my knees by my bed and uttered, "God, if you can do anything with this life, it's yours. I quit. I can't do this anymore." God honored that prayer and immediately began working in my life.

I started volunteering as a youth worker in my church, leading me through three youth pastors until they approached me to fill the position as an "interim" youth director. That summer was incredible, and they asked me to apply for the job on one condition: complete my education at Fort Wayne Bible College. I agreed, setting me on the path of youth pastor and other ministries. I stayed at that church for 20 years, and moving on was tough, but that's another story. I cherished my time with those kids and fellow youth workers.

I had various other ministry roles, including a combination of youth pastor and worship leader, urban ministries, and planting a church. Presently, I pastor on the southeast side of Fort Wayne, IN, focusing specifically on a coaching and consulting role.

Outside of ministry, I love playing the guitar, public speaking, restoring my '55 Chevy truck, and spending time with our grandchildren. My wife, Margie, works as a lunch lady at a local school and is a caring and devoted grandma.
